Following the successful organisation of the GDPR – one year on Conference held on the 5th June 2019, 21 law and Advisory 21 in collaboration with 21 Academy shall be organising another half day conference to mark the second year of the GDPR coming into force.
Later this month, the European Commission is expected to publish a report, as mandated by Article 97. This report will contain an evaluation of the progress made under the GDPR and the challenges encountered and likely for the basis of any major upcoming reforms. We are pleased to announce that during the conference the Commission will be represented by one of its officials to give a 360 degree presentation on the life cycle of the GDPR: from inception, to today’s application and beyond. The intervention will provide a unique insight into the policy making and policy choices that shaped the GDPR; it will briefly assess the current application at EU and Member State level and, in conclusion, will provide general guidance on possible future actions within the field of data protection and beyond.
Meant to be held on the 27th May 2020 the conference has now been postponed to the 24th June. This Conference will be held online and will look at where we have come to since the advent of the new legislation. An overview of case-law will be given and key issues will be discussed and delved into.
We will be discussing the latest developments of the GDPR as well as what has been learnt from the first 24 months from Maltese business as-a-whole and the Information and Data Protection Office.
This interactive online conference is designed to assist data protection officers, data protection leads, advocates, IT professionals, human resource professionals and anyone dealing with day-to-day issues of data protection and information security.
