Sonya Sammut

Sonya is a biologist, a business scientist and a lecturer at the University of Malta.

In her latest study units, ‘The Biology of Struggle’ and ‘The Biology of Well-being’, she explains how the fundamentals of evolutionary theory and evolutionary psychology can help us understand some of the mechanisms behind our evolved behaviour, and how these insights can lead to solutions to some of the problems and challenges that we face in everyday life.

Sonya is particularly interested in sex differences, and how, if we accept that it would not make sense for nature to design men and women to be exactly the same, we can focus instead on building on these different strengths, and harnessing the opportunities that come from having diversity of the sexes in various spheres.
