Course Objective

This is a comprehensive programme designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and training in legal subjects related to notarial law. This undergraduate certificate programme focuses on the essential aspects of notarial practice and the relevant laws governing the profession.

Throughout the course, students will explore various key areas, including an examination of the Courts of Justice in Malta, as specified in Chapter 12 of the Laws of Malta – The Code of Organisation and Civil Procedure. Additionally, the programme delves into the duties and responsibilities of notaries, as outlined in Chapter 55 of the Laws of Malta – Notarial Profession and Notarial Archives, which serves as the primary focal point within the notarial field.

Under the guidance of expert instructors and professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields, students will engage in a diverse range of coursework. Topics covered include Interdiction and Incapacitation, which explores legal processes pertaining to individuals’ limited legal capacity; Presentation and Publication of Secret Wills, focusing on the proper procedures for handling confidential wills; and the Declaration of the Opening of a Succession, examining the legal requirements and documentation involved in initiating the succession process.

By completing this certificate programme, students will acquire a solid foundation in notarial law and practice, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in a notarial practice office.
