George Steve Darmanin is a Safety & Health Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in managing corporate health & safety. He has worked in several sectors including container transshipment, aviation, oil and gas, manufacturing and the services industry among others.
He is also a seasoned trainer in H&S-related subjects. Institutions that he carried training for include, NEBOSH and IOSH of the UK, the Malta Red Cross and Emergency First Response.
George Steve achieved his Diploma in Social Studies (Occupational Health & Safety) from the University of Malta in 2001 and graduated with a Master of Science in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Management from the University of Portsmouth with Distinction in 2024.
George Steve is qualified as an IRCA-certified ISO 45001 Lead Auditor. He also holds certifications in Leadership from the University of Leeds and Maritime Crisis Management from the US Coast Guard, among others.
George is the standing President of the Malta Occupational Safety and Health Practitioners Association (MOSHPA). He has an active role in the European Network of Safety and Health Practitioners Organisation (ENSHPO) which is one of the primary sources of information to the EU-OSHA and the EC in matters related to H&S, which often leads to new or changed European policies.
George is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupation Safety & Health in the United Kingdom, the world’s largest and most respected body for health and safety professionals and a registered as a Competent Person in OHS with the Occupational Health & Safety Authority as per Act XXVII of 2000.
